About this release
PDF-XChange Editor Plus is the tool people reach for when the big PDF suites feel like too much application for the job. It launches almost instantly, opens large documents without a wait, and stays light on memory even with a stack of files open. For daily reading, marking up and small edits, that responsiveness is the entire reason it stays installed.
The Plus tier is the one that edits rather than just annotates. Text in an existing document becomes editable in place, with font matching against what is embedded, image insertion and replacement, and page level operations for combining, splitting, reordering and rotating. The OCR engine turns a scan into searchable, selectable text with a language choice, so a paper document that came in as an image behaves like a real PDF afterwards.
Form work is where the Plus edition earns its name. It creates fillable forms, including the dynamic stamp tools, and it exports and imports form data so a batch of returns can be processed without opening each one by hand. The commenting and measurement tools round it out for review and light technical work, and everything saves back to a standard PDF that opens anywhere.

Installation notes
Follow these in order. Most reports of a failed install come from skipping a step rather than from the package itself.
- Disconnect from the network before you start.
- Extract the archive to any folder you like.
- Run the installer matching the architecture you want, 64-bit unless you need old plug-ins.
- Finish the wizard and decline any bundled extras it offers.
- Launch the application once and close it.
- Reconnect to the network.

Things worth knowing
- During setup it offers to install a browser plug-in and set default handlers, uncheck what you do not want.
- OCR accuracy depends on scan quality, a clean 300 dpi scan comes out far better than a phone photo.
- Turn off the update check if you want the activation state left exactly as installed.
