About this release
Office 2021 Professional Plus is the perpetual release that sits between the older 2019 line and the current subscription builds. It brings the refreshed visual style, the rounded window treatment that matches newer Windows, dark mode across the applications, and a set of Excel functions that make a real difference if you build spreadsheets rather than just fill them in.
Excel is the strongest reason to take this over the older release. Installation notes
Follow these in order. Most reports of a failed install come from skipping a step rather than from the package itself.
- Remove any previous Office installation with the official removal tool.
- Disconnect from the network.
- Extract the archive to a short path such as C:\Setup.
- Run the setup file for the architecture you want.
- Let it finish, then open Word once and close it.
- Reconnect to the network.
