About this release
Office 2016 Professional Plus is the perpetual release a lot of machines never moved past, and for good reason. It installs once, runs offline, and asks nothing of a subscription service before it lets you open a file. On older hardware that will not carry a current build comfortably, it remains the sensible choice, and it opens the same file formats the newer suites use.
The suite is the full professional set. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Publisher and OneNote, all in the ribbon layout that a generation of office workers learned by heart. Excel here has power query and power pivot for real data model work, and the function library covers everything short of the dynamic array features that arrived in later releases.
The installer is prepared for deployment rather than left as a raw volume package. You pick an architecture and a language, run it, and finish with a working suite that reports as activated, no key prompt in the middle. Both the 32-bit and 64-bit payloads are present, and the configuration files for a silent rollout across several machines are included for anyone setting up more than one.

Installation notes
Follow these in order. Most reports of a failed install come from skipping a step rather than from the package itself.
- Remove any previous Office installation with the official removal tool.
- Disconnect from the network before you start.
- Extract the archive to a short path such as C:\Setup.
- Run the setup file matching the architecture you want, 64-bit unless you need old add-ins.
- Wait for the installer to finish and close on its own.
- Open Word once, close it, then reconnect to the network.

Things worth knowing
- Do not mix architectures across Office products on one machine, pick one and stay with it.
- If a subscription version was previously installed, the removal tool is not optional.
