About this release

OriginPro is the environment that a great many research groups use to get from raw measurements to a figure in a paper. It is organised around workbooks of data, and from those it produces the wide range of technical plot types that scientific and engineering publishing calls for, at the resolution and with the control that a journal figure needs rather than the rough charts an office spreadsheet makes.

The analysis side is what separates the Pro tier. Nonlinear curve fitting with a large library of functions and the ability to define your own, peak analysis and deconvolution, signal processing with filtering and transforms, statistics from the everyday tests up to more advanced models, and surface and contour analysis for gridded data. Results update when the source data changes, so reworking a figure is a matter of dropping in new numbers.

Around that sits the workflow that makes it usable at scale. Analysis templates and a recalculation system so a whole procedure re runs on new data, batch processing across many files, import from the instrument and data formats labs actually produce, and a scripting layer for automating repetitive work. The build here is the full OriginPro with every analysis tool and graph type unlocked.

What it does

  • Workbook driven data organisation for large measured datasets
  • Wide range of publication quality technical plot types
  • Nonlinear curve fitting with a large function library and custom functions
  • Peak analysis, deconvolution and baseline handling
  • Signal processing with filtering, smoothing and transforms
  • Statistics from everyday tests to advanced models
  • Surface, contour and heat map analysis for gridded data
  • Recalculating analysis templates that re run on new data
  • Batch processing across many files at once
  • Scripting layer for automating repetitive procedures

Changes in this version

  • Faster recalculation on large workbooks
  • New plot types added to the technical graph library
  • Improved curve fitting convergence on difficult models
  • Reworked import for current instrument data formats
  • Better high DPI rendering of exported figures

What the package contains

  • OriginPro offline installer
  • Full analysis tool and graph type library
  • Sample projects and analysis templates
  • Readme with the install order written out step by step
  • Notes on importing common instrument data formats

Installation notes

Follow these in order. Most reports of a failed install come from skipping a step rather than from the package itself.

  1. Disconnect from the network before you begin.
  2. Turn off real time protection for the length of the install.
  3. Extract the archive to a short path such as C:\Setup.
  4. Run setup as administrator and complete the wizard.
  5. Apply the included activation step before first launch.
  6. Launch once, then reconnect to the network.

System requirements

Operating systemWindows 10 version 22H2 or Windows 11
ProcessorIntel or AMD 64-bit dual core, quad core recommended
Memory8 GB minimum, 16 GB recommended for large datasets
GraphicsGPU with 2 GB VRAM for 3D plots
Storage3 GB free during install
Display1920 by 1080 or larger

Things worth knowing

  • Set up an analysis template once and the recalculation system re runs the whole procedure on new data, which is where the time savings are.
  • Exported figures should be set to the resolution the journal asks for before export, not resized afterward.
  • Keep the update check off so the activation state is not disturbed.

Questions about this title

How is this different from a spreadsheet?
It is built for technical data, so it produces publication grade plots and runs the fitting, statistics and signal processing that a spreadsheet cannot do properly.
What does the Pro tier add over the base?
The advanced analysis, more statistics, peak and signal tools, surface analysis and the batch and scripting features. The base version graphs but does far less analysis.
Do my figures update when I change the data?
Yes, the recalculation system re runs the analysis and updates the plots when the source data changes, so reworking a figure is quick.
Can it read my instrument files?
It imports a wide range of instrument and data formats. Check the import list for your specific instrument before committing a workflow to it.
