About this release
Office 2007 is the release that changed the interface everyone had used for a decade, replacing menus and toolbars with the ribbon, and introducing the XML based file formats that are still the default today. It stays in circulation for two reasons, it runs on hardware far too old for anything current, and some legacy documents and templates behave best in the version they were built in.
The suite covers the familiar set for the era. Word, Excel with the ribbon and the then new charting engine, PowerPoint with the redesigned graphics, Outlook for mail and calendar, and Access for local databases. It is light on resources by any modern measure, which is exactly why it gets pulled out for an ancient machine that needs to open and edit documents without crawling.
Because it introduced the current formats, it reads and writes the same document types newer Office uses, so files move between it and modern versions without a conversion step, within the limits of what the older application understands. This package is an offline installer prepared to run without a key prompt and finish in an activated state, which removes the usual friction of setting up a release this old.

Things worth knowing

- Features added to the format after this release will not render, though the file still opens.

What people are saying
Old shop PC could not run anything newer. This installed clean and opens everything the office needs.
Say what you like, this is where the ribbon started. Still light as a feather though.
A macro heavy template only behaves right in the version it was built in. This was that version.
