About this release
Mastercam is the bridge between a part that exists as a model and a part that exists as metal, and it is one of the most widely taught computer aided manufacturing packages on a shop floor. You bring in the geometry, define the stock and the tools, and it generates the toolpaths that a machine follows, then posts them out as the specific code your controller expects. The whole point is to plan and verify the cut on screen before a tool ever touches material.
The strategy library is broad and this is where the time is saved. Milling covers everything from a simple two axis pocket up through multi axis surfacing, high speed toolpaths that keep the tool loaded evenly to run faster and last longer, turning for lathe work, mill turn for machines that do both, wire electrical discharge for profiles, and router work for sheet goods. Each strategy exposes the feeds, speeds, stepovers and lead moves a machinist actually tunes.
Verification is the safety net. A full cut simulation runs the program against the stock and the tools, shows the material coming away, flags gouges and collisions, and compares the finished result against the model, so a mistake shows up as a red patch on the screen instead of a scrapped part or a broken tool. The post processor set turns the verified toolpaths into the exact dialect of code for your machine.

Installation notes
Follow these in order. Most reports of a failed install come from skipping a step rather than from the package itself.
- Disconnect from the network before you start.
- Turn off real time protection for the duration of the install.
- Extract the archive to a short path such as C:\Setup.
- Run setup as administrator and complete the wizard.
- Apply the included activation step, then launch once and close it.
- Reconnect to the network.

Things worth knowing
- Always run the cut simulation before posting, it is the cheapest way to catch a gouge or a collision.
- Load the correct post processor for your controller, the code dialect is not interchangeable between machines.
- Keep the tool library accurate, wrong feeds and speeds are how tools break and finishes suffer.
