About this release
CATIA is one of the platforms that heavy industry actually runs on, particularly aerospace and automotive, where its surfacing tools and its handling of very large assemblies are the reason it holds its ground. It is organised into workbenches, each a focused environment for a discipline, and you move between part design, assembly, surfacing, drafting and analysis as the job requires.
The surface design side is what earns it its reputation. The class A surfacing and freeform tools produce the continuous, high quality surfaces that exterior bodywork and aerospace skins demand, with the continuity control that a purely solid modeller cannot match. Alongside that sits full parametric solid modelling with a history tree, so mechanical parts and organic surfaces coexist in one model.
Assemblies and drawings complete the picture. The assembly environment manages constraints and very large product structures, the drafting workbench generates associative drawings that update with the model, and the whole thing exchanges data through neutral formats with the rest of a supplier chain. This release is a service pack build of the widely deployed V5 line, provided with the full set of workbenches.

Installation notes
Follow these in order. Most reports of a failed install come from skipping a step rather than from the package itself.
- Disconnect from the network before you begin.
- Pause real time protection for the whole install.
- Extract to a short path, the package is very large.
- Run setup as administrator and select the workbenches you need.
- Apply the included licensing step before the first launch.
- Launch once offline and confirm the workbenches load.
System requirements
| Operating system | Windows 10 version 22H2 or Windows 11, 64-bit |
| Processor | 3.0 GHz or faster with high single thread performance |
| Memory | 16 GB minimum, 32 GB for large assemblies |
| Graphics | Certified workstation GPU strongly recommended, 4 GB VRAM minimum |
| Storage | 35 GB free during install, SSD required in practice |
| Display | 1920 by 1080 minimum, 2560 by 1440 recommended |
Things worth knowing
- A certified workstation graphics card is what the display path is tuned for, a gaming card struggles on big products.
- Install only the workbenches you use, the full set is large.
- Block the licensing components in the firewall so they stop retrying at startup.
Questions about this title
What is CATIA strongest at?
Can it exchange data with other CAD systems?
Is a workstation card required?
Why so large on disk?
What people are saying
The class A surfacing is still a class above. Nothing else gives me continuity control like this.
Handled a product structure that choked another system. Big assemblies are its home turf.
Only installed the workbenches I use and saved a lot of disk. No need for the full set.
