About this release
Driver Booster scans the hardware in a machine, matches each device against a driver database, and reports what is outdated, missing or generic. On a fresh installation that finds the several devices Windows quietly left on a basic driver, and on an older machine it usually turns up a network or chipset driver that has been years behind without anyone noticing.
The safety layer is the part that matters. Before applying anything, it takes a system restore point and backs up the driver being replaced, so a bad update can be rolled back from within the application rather than through recovery mode. Updates can be applied one at a time or as a batch, and the reboot they need is scheduled rather than forced.
Beyond drivers, it carries a set of small fixes for the problems that drivers usually cause. Audio device repair, network adapter reset, resolution correction and device error resolution are all one click actions. There is also a game component updater that keeps the runtime libraries games depend on current, which resolves a surprising number of launch failures.
What it does

- System restore point taken automatically before any update
- Per driver backup with rollback from inside the application
- Batch updating with scheduled rather than forced reboots
- Coverage for graphics, chipset, audio, network, storage and peripherals
- One click fixes for audio, network, resolution and device error problems
- Game component updater for the runtime libraries games depend on
- Scheduled scanning with notification when something falls behind
- Offline driver export for a machine with no network connection
- Thirty interface languages included
Changes in this version
- Expanded driver database coverage for recent hardware
- Faster scan pass on machines with many attached devices
- Improved rollback reliability for graphics drivers
- Better detection of generic drivers Windows installed as placeholders
- Reduced background resource use when idle
What the package contains

Installation notes
Follow these in order. Most reports of a failed install come from skipping a step rather than from the package itself.
- Disconnect from the network.
- Extract the archive anywhere.
- Run the installer and decline any bundled extras it offers.
- Do not launch yet, apply the included licensing step first.
- Open the application and confirm the pro state.
- Reconnect if you want the online driver database.

Things worth knowing
- For graphics cards, the driver from the card maker is usually the better choice. Use this for the devices nobody else covers.
- Let it take the restore point, it is the entire safety net and skipping it is how people end up in recovery mode.
- Decline the extra products the installer offers, none of them are needed for the driver scanning to work.
Questions about this title
Is a driver updater safe?
Should I use it for graphics drivers?
Does it work without a connection?
How do I undo a bad update?
What people are saying
Found eleven outdated drivers on a machine I thought was current. Network one was four years behind.
Rolled back a bad audio driver from inside the application. Took ten seconds.
Use it for chipset and peripherals, get graphics drivers from the vendor. That is the sensible split.
