About this release
Resolve is unusual in that it is genuinely five applications sharing one project. The cut and edit pages handle assembly, the colour page is the grading tool the rest of the industry benchmarks against, Fusion is a node based compositor, Fairlight is a full audio post environment, and the deliver page handles encoding and round trips. Moving between them is a click, with no export or conform step in between.
The colour page is the reason the application exists. Node based grading with unlimited nodes per clip, primaries in wheels or bars, curves, qualifiers with proper keying, power windows with tracking, and a colour management system that handles wide gamut and HDR delivery correctly. Studio tier adds the tools that matter on real jobs, including the neural engine features, temporal noise reduction, motion blur, lens flare and film grain.
This is the studio build, so the limits of the free version are gone. Resolution and frame rate caps are lifted, so the full 8K and high frame rate pipeline is available, remote and collaborative workflow is present, and the whole neural engine feature set including magic mask, super scale, face refinement, voice isolation and speed warp is enabled.
What it does
- Node based colour grading with unlimited nodes, qualifiers and tracked power windows
- Fusion page for node based compositing, tracking, paint and particles
- Fairlight audio post with a full mixer, busses, ADR and immersive formats
- Neural engine tools including magic mask, super scale and face refinement
- Temporal and spatial noise reduction, motion blur and optical flow speed changes
- Colour management for wide gamut and HDR delivery with proper tone mapping
- Cut page for fast turnaround assembly with source tape and sync bin
- Full 8K and high frame rate support with no resolution cap
- Collaborative workflow with multiple users on one project database
- Deliver page with hardware accelerated encoding and round trip presets
Changes in this version
- Faster playback on timelines with heavy node trees

- New Fairlight plug-in set for dialogue cleanup
- Reworked project database handling for large libraries
What the package contains
- DaVinci Resolve Studio offline installer
- Fusion effect and template library
- Fairlight plug-in set
- Colour management presets for common camera formats
- Readme with the install order written out step by step
Installation notes
Follow these in order. Most reports of a failed install come from skipping a step rather than from the package itself.
- Disconnect from the network.
- Extract the archive to a short path.
- Run the installer as administrator, it also installs the panel and driver components.
- Restart when the installer asks, the driver components need it.
- Launch once and set your working folders.
- Reconnect to the network.
System requirements
| Operating system | Windows 10 version 22H2 or Windows 11 |
| Processor | Intel or AMD 64-bit with six cores or more recommended |
| Memory | 16 GB minimum, 32 GB for Fusion and noise reduction work |
| Graphics | GPU with 4 GB VRAM minimum, 8 GB or more strongly recommended |
| Storage | 25 GB for the install plus fast media storage |
| Display | 1920 by 1080 minimum, 2560 by 1440 or higher recommended |
Things worth knowing
- GPU matters more here than processor, a weak card limits the whole application regardless of everything else.
- Keep the project database backed up, it is a single point of failure for all your projects.
- Studio tier features are the ones that use the neural engine, they will be noticeably slower on older cards.
Questions about this title
What does studio add over the free version?
Is it hard to learn after another editor?
Do I need a control surface?
Can it open projects from an older version?
What people are saying
Magic mask through a walk behind a pillar held up. Very little cleanup.
Restart after install is not optional, mine would not see the GPU until I did.
Noise reduction on a low light interview saved the shot completely.
