About this release
Media Encoder is the background worker of a video pipeline. Sequences and compositions get queued to it instead of rendering inside the editor, which frees the editing application to keep working while encoding runs. On a machine doing both, that separation is the difference between a productive afternoon and staring at a progress bar.
Watch folders are the feature that turns it into infrastructure. Point it at a directory with a preset attached, and anything dropped in there gets encoded and written to an output folder automatically. Camera cards get transcoded to an editing codec overnight, delivery masters get converted to platform formats without anyone touching the machine, and proxies get generated for a whole shoot while you sleep.
The preset system covers the rest. Every common delivery format is included, from platform specific H.264 and H.265 presets through broadcast codecs, ProRes, DNxHD and DNxHR, and image sequences. Presets can be stacked so a single source writes a high bitrate master, a review copy and a set of platform sized versions in one queue entry, with per output naming and destination rules.

Installation notes
Follow these in order. Most reports of a failed install come from skipping a step rather than from the package itself.
- Disconnect from the network.
- Extract to a short path such as C:\Setup.
- Run setup as administrator.
- Let it finish, then launch it once so it registers with your editing applications.
- Close it and reconnect.
- Confirm the queue option appears in Premiere or After Effects.
