About this release

This is the same graphics suite with the weight taken out. The vector drawing application and the photo editing application are both present and complete, with the full toolset in each, and what has been removed is the enormous bundled content that normally accompanies them. The clipart collections, the stock photography, the extended font packs and the template libraries account for most of the standard install size, and almost nobody uses them.

The vector application covers the work people actually buy the suite for. Bezier and freehand drawing, node editing, shape combining, contours and blends, envelope and perspective distortion, transparency and blend modes, the full colour management chain with spot colours, and multi page documents with layers per page. Typography is proper rather than token, with OpenType feature access, text on a path, paragraph frames and full character and paragraph styles.

The photo application handles the raster half of the job, with layers, masks, adjustment tools, a healing and cloning set, lens correction, and a raw processing module for camera files. Between the two applications the suite covers a print job end to end, and the smaller footprint makes it a sensible choice for a laptop, a shared workstation, or any machine where twenty gigabytes of clipart is not a reasonable use of the disk.

Installation notes

Follow these in order. Most reports of a failed install come from skipping a step rather than from the package itself.

1. Remove any other Corel suite installation first, they share components.
2. Disconnect from the network.
3. Extract the archive to any folder, the package is small.
4. Run setup as administrator and pick your interface language.
5. Let it finish, then launch the drawing application once.
6. Close it and reconnect to the network.

System requirements

Things worth knowing

• The removed content is clipart, stock imagery, extra fonts and templates only, no application feature has been taken out.
• Documents made here open in the full suite and the other way round, the file format is identical.
• If you rely on the bundled font collection, install the full suite instead, those fonts are not in this package.
