About this release

Illustrator is the vector application that brand work, packaging and editorial illustration run through. Paths stay resolution independent, so the same file prints at billboard size and exports as a favicon sized asset without a second version. The 2026 build carries the full toolset, from the pen and curvature tools through the shape builder, live paint, gradient mesh and the whole appearance panel model.

Type handling is the other half of the application. Variable fonts, OpenType features, paragraph and character styles, type on a path, area type with proper text threading, and glyph level control that matters when you are setting a wordmark rather than a paragraph. The font matching pass will identify a face from outlines and suggest the closest installed match.

For production, the release covers artboards up to a hundred per document, bleed and slug setup, spot colour and overprint preview, packaging dieline support and export presets that write out every size and format you need in one pass. Files round trip cleanly into the rest of the Adobe lineup, so a logo drawn here drops into a layout or a motion comp with its paths intact.

Installation notes

Follow these in order. Most reports of a failed install come from skipping a step rather than from the package itself.

1. Disconnect the machine from the network first.
2. Suspend real time protection until the install has finished.
3. Extract to a short path such as C:\Setup.
4. Run setup as administrator, choose a language, and start the install.
5. Wait for it to complete, then launch the application once.
6. Close it and reconnect the network.

System requirements

Things worth knowing

• Turn GPU performance off in preferences if you see redraw artefacts on older cards.
• Documents saved in this version can be written back to older formats through Save As, with some live effects flattened.
• Missing font warnings on shared files are expected, the font itself is not bundled with the artwork.
