About this release

CorelDRAW has held its ground in production shops for decades, particularly anywhere output goes to a cutter, a plotter, an engraver or a heat press. The suite pairs the vector application with Photo-Paint for raster work, so a job that mixes traced logos with photographic elements stays inside one package.

The vector side covers everything you would expect and a few things you would not find elsewhere. Multi page documents with independent page sizes, a proper shaping toolset with weld, trim and intersect, contour and blend, envelope distortion, perspective, and the LiveSketch tool that converts freehand strokes into clean curves as you draw. Node editing is fast, which matters when you are cleaning up a customer supplied file.

Production features are the reason shops stay with it. Colour management with spot colours and overprint, a print merge for variable data jobs, PowerTRACE for converting bitmaps to editable vectors, and file compatibility that reads and writes the formats that cutting and routing software expects. Photo-Paint handles the raster half with layers, masks, adjustment tools and a healing brush.

Installation notes

Follow these in order. Most reports of a failed install come from skipping a step rather than from the package itself.

1. Disconnect from the network.
2. Pause real time protection.
3. Extract to a short path such as C:\Setup.
4. Run setup as administrator and choose a typical install.
5. Let it finish, then launch the application once.
6. Close it and reconnect.

System requirements

Things worth knowing

• Install the font manager even if you think you will not use it, several fill and template features expect it.
• Turn off the update service so the install state stays as it is.
• Files saved here can be written to older versions through the save as dialog if a shop is on an older release.
