About this release
Cubase Pro is a complete production environment that takes a song from the first recorded take through to a mastered file without changing tools. Audio and MIDI live on the same timeline, the track count is unlimited in practice, and the whole thing is built around a project window and a mixer that between them cover tracking, editing, arranging and the mix.
The MIDI side is the part that has kept it in studios for decades. The key editor, drum editor, list editor and score editor each present the same notes in a different light, the chord track can reharmonise a whole arrangement, and the included instruments cover synths, a sampler, a drum machine and a large sampled library so a full production can be built before a single external plugin is loaded.
The mixer is where a project is finished. Channel strips with EQ, dynamics and saturation on every channel, a full routing matrix for buses and sends, VCA faders for riding groups, and a metering and control room section that treats monitoring as a first class part of the job. The audio engine handles high sample rates and deep buffer control, and the whole package ships with the content libraries that make the stock instruments usable straight away.

Installation notes
Follow these in order. Most reports of a failed install come from skipping a step rather than from the package itself.
- Disconnect from the network before you begin.
- Pause real time protection for the length of the install.
- Extract the archive to a short path such as C:\Setup, the content is large.
- Run setup as administrator and choose which content libraries to install.
- Apply the included licensing step before the first launch.
- Launch once offline, set your audio device, then reconnect if needed.

Things worth knowing
- Use an ASIO interface, the generic driver works but the latency makes live monitoring unpleasant.
