About this release
Audition is Adobe's audio workstation, and it splits into two views that cover the two halves of the job. The waveform editor is for surgical work on a single clip, where you zoom to the sample level, paint out a cough on the spectral display, and repair rather than mask. The multitrack session is for assembly, where dialogue, music and effects live on their own tracks and get mixed together with routing, buses and automation.
The spectral frequency display is the feature people install it for. Noise, hum, a chair squeak or a phone buzz shows up as a shape you can select and remove, and the newer noise reduction and dialogue isolation passes clean a location recording far more transparently than a blanket gate ever did. For anyone rescuing imperfect field audio, that view is the whole reason to open the application.
For finishing to picture, the multitrack session imports a video reference, keeps everything in sync, and exports a mix or stems back out for the edit. The Essential Sound panel brings the same dialogue, music and ambience tagging that the video tools use, so a rough balance is a few clicks before you commit to manual work. Batch processing handles a folder of files against a saved chain when the job is volume rather than detail.

Installation notes
Follow these in order. Most reports of a failed install come from skipping a step rather than from the package itself.
- Disconnect from the network.
- Pause real time protection for the duration.
- Extract to a short path such as C:\Setup.
- Run setup as administrator and pick a language.
- Let the installer finish, then open the application once.
- Close it and reconnect the network.

Things worth knowing
- Install an ASIO driver for your interface if you want low latency monitoring, the generic driver adds noticeable delay.
- Point the media cache at a fast drive, spectral work reads and writes it constantly.
- Third party audio plug-ins from an older version usually need rescanning against this build.
