About this release
Firefox matters because it runs on its own rendering engine rather than the one that sits behind most of the other mainstream browsers. That independence is the reason it exists, a web where a single engine decides how every page behaves is a web with one gatekeeper, and Firefox is the practical alternative that keeps a second engine in wide daily use rather than as a curiosity.
For the person using it, the draw is privacy and control. It blocks cross site trackers by default, isolates sites from each other so one cannot easily watch you across another, and gives real granular control over cookies, permissions and telemetry rather than burying them. The container feature walls off separate identities in separate tabs, which is genuinely useful for keeping work, personal and throwaway logins apart.
It is also a lean, fast, mature browser with a deep extension catalogue and a syncing account that carries bookmarks, history and passwords between machines. It runs comfortably on older hardware where heavier browsers struggle, and covers a very wide set of interface languages. This is the current release, free and installing cleanly.

Installation notes
Follow these in order. Most reports of a failed install come from skipping a step rather than from the package itself.

- Run the installer and finish the short wizard.
- Launch the browser and import bookmarks and passwords from your old browser if you want.
- Sign into a sync account if you want your data across machines, or skip it entirely.
- Review the privacy settings and set the tracker blocking level you want.
- Add any extensions you rely on from the catalogue.

Things worth knowing
- Sync is optional, the browser works fully without an account if you would rather keep nothing in the cloud.
- Raising the tracker blocking to the strict level occasionally breaks a site, the shield icon lets you make an exception.
- It imports data from another browser only on first run, so do that before you clear the old one out.

What people are saying
Container tabs keep my work and personal logins completely separate. Nothing else does it as cleanly.
Runs fine on an old machine where the heavier browsers crawl. Lean and quick.
Imported everything from my old browser on first run and never looked back. Tracker blocking is the selling point.
