iTop VPN is a straightforward client for putting a tunnel between your machine and the wider internet. Pick a country from the list, connect, and your traffic leaves through that server with your real address hidden behind it. The interface is deliberately simple, one big connect button and a server list, so it stays usable for people who do not want to learn networking to get a private connection.
Beyond the basic tunnel it carries the privacy extras people expect now. A kill switch cuts the connection entirely if the tunnel drops, so nothing leaks out over the open line while it reconnects. Built in ad and tracker blocking trims a lot of the noise off web pages, and a set of protocols means it can usually find one that gets through a restrictive network.
There are server groups tuned for different jobs, general browsing, streaming and downloading, so you are not guessing which one to pick. Split connection rules let chosen applications skip the tunnel when you want local speed for them. Installation notes
Follow these in order. Most reports of a failed install come from skipping a step rather than from the package itself.
- Disconnect from any existing VPN before you begin.
- Extract the archive to any folder you like.
- Run the installer as administrator, it installs a network adapter.
- Approve the network adapter driver prompt when it appears.
- Launch the client, pick a location and connect.
- Turn off the built in update check to keep the current state.

Things worth knowing
- A VPN reroutes traffic, it does not make you anonymous on its own, ordinary account sign ins still identify you.
- The installer adds a virtual network adapter, approve the driver prompt or the tunnel will not come up.
- Turn on the kill switch if you care about leaks, it is not always enabled by default.
