About this release
BitTorrent Pro is the original client for the protocol of the same name, in the tier that removes the advertising and adds a few conveniences on top of the transfer engine. The core job is unchanged and reliable, it downloads and seeds torrents efficiently, managing many transfers at once, prioritising files within a torrent, and resuming cleanly after an interruption.
The pro tier is mostly about removing friction. There is no advertising in the interface, a built in scanning step can check a completed download before you open it, and an automatic conversion feature can turn a downloaded media file into a format a particular device plays. None of these change the core behaviour, they just smooth the edges the free ad supported version leaves rough.
The client stays deliberately light. It uses little memory even with a long list of active transfers, exposes proper bandwidth scheduling so a big download does not choke everything else during working hours, supports magnet links and RSS feeds for automating a subscription, and gives fine control over connection limits and encryption. It is the tool people who have used the protocol for years tend to keep coming back to.

- Pro tier activation component
- All interface languages

Installation notes
Follow these in order. Most reports of a failed install come from skipping a step rather than from the package itself.
- Extract the small archive to any folder.
- Run the installer and decline any bundled extras it offers.
- Apply the included licensing step so the pro tier activates.
- Open the client and confirm the ad free pro state.
- Set your bandwidth schedule and connection limits.
- Turn off automatic updates to keep the activation state.
System requirements
| Operating system | Windows 7 or newer, 32-bit or 64-bit |
| Processor | Any 1 GHz or faster processor |
| Memory | 512 MB minimum |
| Graphics | No requirement |
| Storage | 50 MB free plus space for what you download |
| Network | A broadband connection, faster helps swarm speed |
Things worth knowing
- Set a bandwidth schedule so a large transfer does not saturate the connection during working hours.
- A well seeded torrent is fast and a poorly seeded one is slow, that is the protocol, not the client.
- Turn off automatic updates if you want the activation state left exactly as installed.

What does pro add over the free client?
Why is a download slow?
Does it support magnet links?
Is it heavy on resources?
What people are saying
Ad free pro tier and the same light client I have used for years. Nothing to relearn.
The scheduling is what I actually wanted. Full speed at night, capped while I work.
People blame the client for slow torrents. It is the seeds. Well seeded stuff flies here.
