About this release

Revo Uninstaller exists because the built in Windows uninstaller does half the job. It runs a program's own removal routine, then goes further, scanning the file system and registry for the folders, files and entries the program left behind, and clears them out. Over the life of a machine that leftover clutter is what slowly bloats a drive and a registry, and this is the tool that keeps it in check.

The leftover scan comes at three depths, from a light pass to a thorough sweep that digs into every corner a program might have touched. It shows you exactly what it found and lets you confirm before deleting, so nothing goes without your say so. For a program with no working uninstaller at all, a forced uninstall mode hunts down and removes it from traces alone.

The monitored install mode is the feature power users install it for. Run a new program's setup through it and Revo logs every file and registry change the installer makes, so a later uninstall is exact, everything the program added and nothing it did not. Alongside the uninstaller sit a set of maintenance tools, a startup manager, a junk cleaner and a history cleaner, that round it into a general tidy up kit.

  2. Turn off real time protection for the duration.
  3. Extract the archive and run the installer as administrator.
  4. Apply the included activation step before launching.
  5. Launch once and confirm the pro features are present.

Things worth knowing

  • Review the leftover list before deleting, the thorough scan is aggressive and you confirm each removal for a reason.
  • Use monitored install mode for anything you expect to remove cleanly later, it is the feature that makes removal exact.
  • Turn off auto update if you want the activation state left exactly as installed.

Questions about this title

Why not just use the Windows uninstaller?
Because it leaves the program's folders and registry entries behind. This runs that same uninstaller and then clears the leftovers, which is the part Windows skips.
What is monitored install mode?
You run a new program's setup through Revo, and it logs every file and registry change the installer makes. A later uninstall then removes exactly what was added, nothing more.
Can it remove a program that has no uninstaller?
Yes, the forced uninstall mode finds and removes a program from its traces alone, for cases where the normal removal is broken or missing.
Is the leftover scan safe?
It shows you everything it found and waits for your confirmation before deleting. Review the list, especially on the thorough depth, and it is safe.
