About this release

MyDockFinder is for people who like how a Mac desktop looks and want that arrangement on Windows without leaving Windows. It puts a proper dock along the bottom with magnification and running indicators, a menu bar across the top that shows the active application's menus and a set of status widgets, and a slide out control centre for the toggles you reach for most. The result reshapes the shell while everything underneath stays ordinary Windows.

The dock is the centrepiece and it behaves the way you would expect one to. Pinned and running applications sit together, icons bounce and magnify as the pointer passes, folders open as fans or grids, and the whole bar auto hides to give a full screen application the room. The top bar carries the clock, battery, network and volume, plus quick toggles, and it adapts its menus to whatever window is in front.

None of it is a reskin of the operating system itself, which is the important part. It runs as an application layer on top, so it can be turned off or removed and the machine is back to stock Windows with nothing altered at the system level. That makes it a safe way to get the look, and the whole thing is light enough to leave running all day without a noticeable cost.

Installation notes

Follow these in order. Most reports of a failed install come from skipping a step rather than from the package itself.

1. Extract the archive to a folder you can keep, not a temporary one.
2. Run the installer, or unzip the portable build and run it in place.
3. Apply the included activation step on first launch.
4. Set the dock and bar to start with Windows if you want them permanent.
5. Arrange the pinned applications and toggles to taste.
6. Leave it running, it sits quietly once configured.

System requirements

Things worth knowing

• It runs on top of Windows rather than changing it, so removing it returns the machine to stock.
• Turn off the Windows taskbar auto hide to avoid the two bars competing at the bottom.
• The portable build is the tidier option if you want to try it without a full install.
