The Ultimate edition is the version of Advanced SystemCare that includes a protection engine rather than only maintenance tools. Real time scanning covers files as they are written and executed, browsing is checked against a reputation database before a page loads, and the behaviour monitor watches for the patterns that indicate something is encrypting files or altering system settings without being asked. It sits underneath the maintenance side rather than beside it, so one interface covers both.
The maintenance half is what the product was originally known for. A single scan pass covers junk files, invalid registry entries, broken shortcuts, privacy traces, startup items and a set of system configuration checks, and reports everything it found in one list before touching anything. Fixing is one action from there, with an undo record kept and a restore point created beforehand, which is the arrangement any tool that edits system state should be using.
Beyond the scan there are the specific tools people actually open it for. A startup manager that includes services and scheduled tasks with a delay option, a disk optimiser, a driver check, a memory release function, a hardware information panel, and a set of privacy controls covering browsing traces, recent file lists and application histories. There is also a monitoring bar that sits on the desktop showing processor, memory and network use, which can be turned off entirely if you find that sort of thing distracting.

Installation notes
Follow these in order. Most reports of a failed install come from skipping a step rather than from the package itself.
- Remove any other real time protection first, two engines will conflict.
- Disconnect from the network before you begin.
- Extract the archive to any folder.
- Run the installer as administrator and decline the optional extras it offers.
- Apply the included activation step before first launch.
- Open it once, run a scan to confirm it works, then reconnect.

Things worth knowing
- This edition includes real time protection, so remove whatever else was doing that job before installing.
- Turn off the promotional notifications in settings on first launch, they are on by default and they are persistent.
- The desktop monitor bar can be disabled entirely if you do not want it sitting on your screen.
