EaseUS Partition Master

Pre-ActivatedWinPE MediaSystem MigrationVersion 20.5.064-bit

About this release

EaseUS Partition Master handles the disk layout jobs that the built in Windows tools either refuse or make needlessly hard. It resizes a partition, moves it, merges two into one, splits one into two, and creates or deletes partitions, all without destroying the data on them where the operation allows. Reclaiming space from an oversized partition to give a cramped system drive more room is the classic case, and it does it in place.

The migration feature is the one people install it for when they buy a new drive. It clones a whole system to a larger disk or a solid state drive, sector layout and boot configuration intact, so the machine boots from the new drive as if nothing changed. For the common upgrade from a mechanical disk to a solid state drive, it turns a daunting reinstall into a copy and swap.

Some changes cannot be made while the system they affect is running, which is where the bundled bootable environment comes in. You boot the WinPE media from a USB stick and operate on the system partition from outside Windows, resizing or moving the very drive the operating system lives on. It also converts between partition table styles and disk types, and checks a disk for bad sectors, making it a general purpose disk toolkit rather than a single job tool.

What it does

  • Resize, move, merge, split, create and delete partitions in place
  • Data preserving operations where the change allows it
  • System migration to a larger drive or a solid state drive
  • Disk clone for a full copy of a drive
  • Bootable WinPE environment for operating on the system partition
  • Conversion between partition table styles
  • Conversion between basic and dynamic disk types
  • Bad sector check and disk surface test
  • Partition recovery for a deleted or lost partition
  • Alignment optimisation for solid state drives

Changes in this version

  • Faster system migration on large drives
  • Improved handling of drives with many partitions
  • Reworked resize operation for edge cases near a disk boundary
  • Updated WinPE build with broader storage driver support
  • Better progress reporting on long operations

What the package contains

  • EaseUS Partition Master installer
  • Bootable WinPE media builder
  • All interface languages
  • Notes on writing the WinPE media to USB
  • Readme with the install order written out step by step

Installation notes

Follow these in order. Most reports of a failed install come from skipping a step rather than from the package itself.

  1. Back up anything important before changing a disk layout, partition operations carry real risk.
  2. Disconnect from the network before you start.
  3. Turn off real time protection for the duration.
  4. Extract and run the installer as administrator, then apply the included activation step.
  5. For work on the system partition, build the WinPE media onto a USB stick.
  6. Launch once, confirm the pro features, then reconnect the network.

System requirements

Operating systemWindows 7 or newer, 64-bit
Processor1 GHz or faster processor
Memory2 GB minimum, 4 GB recommended
GraphicsNo requirement
Storage250 MB for the tool
MediaA USB stick of 1 GB or larger for the WinPE build

Things worth knowing

  • Always back up before a partition operation, an interrupted resize or move can leave a partition in a bad state.
  • Do not power off the machine during an operation, let it finish or reach the reboot it schedules.
  • Changes to the system partition run from the WinPE environment or a scheduled boot time operation, not from within the running system.

Questions about this title

Can it resize the drive Windows is on?
Yes, but the operation runs at boot time or from the WinPE media, since the system partition cannot be safely changed while Windows is using it. The tool schedules this for you.
Will migration keep my system bootable?
That is its purpose. It clones the system with the boot configuration intact so the machine boots from the new drive as if nothing moved. Set the new drive as the boot device afterwards.
Is my data safe during a resize?
Data preserving operations keep the contents, but any disk operation carries risk. Back up first, and never interrupt an operation in progress.
What is the WinPE media for?
Operating on the system partition from outside Windows, and rescuing a machine that will not boot. You build it onto a USB stick from a working computer.
